The Crime Prevention Center provides consulting services for business, K-12 public and private schools, public safety, parks, and the community. We provide these services in keeping with our mission of providing useful and reasonably priced services. our primary consultant security service region is the eastern and mid eastern united states, however we will serve beyond these areas.
Risk Vulnerability Assessments
Utilizing Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) as our foundational premise, we apply an assessment inclusive of Situational Crime Prevention strategies, second generation CPTED strategies and multiple other proven approaches. Our focus is to create a safer space and address vulnerabilities without creating a fortress appearance. Unlike many practitioners providing these types of services, we have a unique understanding of the concepts based upon a realistic understanding of the criminal mindset, since all our assessors also have a law enforcement background, rather than academic or building trades only knowledge. We also have expertise in the planning field contributing to our unique approach which we developed and implemented during the 1990s and which has evolved to our current method . We do not use off the shelf methods, previous templates or methods developed to address terrorist attacks, unless terrorist attacks are determined to be the risk which must be addressed. Instead, we identify the actual risks to each environment and address them from scratch in each of our assessments. Our recommendations are tailored by priority and risk, and are useful for multi-year planning. We have experience providing successful vulnerability assessments for:

Our ultimate goal is a safer world for all. To that end we broaden the mindset of prevention by teaching others how to conduct security risk vulnerability assessments, using our proven approach and CPTED strategies. We do not believe in a one size fits all approach. Risk is unique to the environment, function of the environment, and motivation of the criminal. Finally, with the budget in mind, we make every effort to offer our services at an affordable cost and to make cost effective recommendations.

We are proud to become an exclusive risk assessment design partner (2021) to one of the nations premier planning, surveying, engineering, and design firms, listed as a fortune 100 company for more than thirteen years.
Having conducted security assessments, reviewed plans, and provided input on new construction sites for multiple uses, we are available to consult in the application of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. We are specifically experienced in providing pre-construction input in K-12 schools, public safety facilities, and greenway trail systems. We also conduct assessments of these environments for risk vulnerabilities after constructed.
Our unique approach is to work directly with the designing architect or other key staff to create a safer space, while not detracting from their creativity in design or necessary functionality. It is important to involve us at the earliest phase of the design project in order that recommendations can be implemented in the most efficient way and without significant structural changes, which equate to cost.
